American gas, Canaj: LVV supporters call it US interests

Political analyst Blerim Canaj, speaking on RTV21's Click programme about American gas, said it is very important for there to be an American foothold within Kosovo.

He added that whenever the United States has sought to push something through in Kosovo, LVV supporters have described it as serving their own interests.

"I think it is very important — if we had an American stake here inside Kosovo, the United States, beyond what LVV supporters would call the interests of the United States of America, because that is how they always frame it whenever the US has wanted to push us toward something in Kosovo — they have said it is in their own interest," he said.

Canaj also spoke about the importance of American gas for Kosovo.

"The whole problem is what we actually want. I think we have reached a rather high peak of madness, because we are forgetting the fact that it would greatly ease our energy situation, it would make us a fairly significant factor in the world, even as a small state. It would bring us into the global energy network, because we would not merely be consumers — we would also be a country that is simply part of that network," he said.
