Canaj: Vetëvendosje refuses coalition with PDK and LDK because it "cannot steal"
Political analyst Blerim Canaj has said that Vetëvendosje will not enter a coalition with PDK and LDK because, as he put it, it "cannot steal".
Canaj also said that Kurti will lead the country to new elections.
"They won't join any party because right now they 'cannot steal' — that much is clear. They can't go to PDK or LDK and say 'let's carve up the tenders like a water spring,' they can't do that with any of them, not with the first, not with the second. They're sending us to elections," he stated. /RTV21/21Media
Political analyst Blerim Canaj, speaking on RTV21's programme "Click", said that members of the diaspora find it easy to question why Kosovo needs American gas — while pointing out that they have a second homeland where energy shortages are not a problem.
"If maintaining our relationship with the United States means going to elections 45 times over, so be it — because I believe that what truly matters goes beyond people coming here and dancing to the beat of drums whenever Albin Kurti wins. The problem is: what comes next? They come, they celebrate, and then they go back where they came from. And it is very easy for someone to say 'why do we need American gas?' when they have a second homeland. Very easy to say. Because when they go to that second homeland, they don't have a problem with energy, and perhaps not with security either," he said. /RTV21/21Media
American gas: Canaj says Vetëvendosje supporters label it a US interest
Political analyst Blerim Canaj, speaking on RTV21's programme "Click" on the subject of American gas, said it is of great importance for Kosovo to have an American foothold within its borders.
He added that whenever the United States has sought to advance something in Kosovo, Vetëvendosje supporters have branded it as serving American interests.
"I believe it is extremely important — if we had an American presence right here inside Kosovo, the United States, beyond what Vetëvendosje supporters would call the interests of the United States of America, because that is how they always frame it whenever the US has wanted to push something in Kosovo, they say it's purely in America's own interest," he said.
Canaj also spoke about the broader significance of American gas for Kosovo.
"The whole question is what we actually want. I think we have reached a rather high peak of absurdity, because we are forgetting the fact that this would greatly ease our energy situation and would make us a considerably important player in the world, even as a small state. It would connect us to the global energy network, because we would not merely be consumers — we would be a country that is simply part of that network," he said. /RTV21/21Media
